Chris Albertson

Former WBAI general manager and Bessie Smith biographer passed away in April - I bring his name up because he was a noted jazz historian and author and made a distinct contribution to the understanding of jazz music. In recent years, however, he used his time to create blogs critiquing the former station he used to manage. He was very critical of the current version of WBAI radio and some of the producers and staff. Some of his comments were on point and correct, but some of his observations were very racist and bigoted - in particular, his drawings and /or pictures of staff and producers reminded one of a minstrel show from years ago. I don't know if he became embittered or had a bad experience @ a point in time, but his comments and visuals from that blog indicted a person with a sour heart. I too, was the recipient of his nasty and unfair comments. He claimed to have been friends with the late great Gil Noble - having met Gil on number of occasions, I would guess that Gil would not be pleased.
